Kudos to Tina Doherty and Claudette Yutkins, elementary school art teachers, for hosting an AMAZING art show! The exhibit is open to the public on Friday, March 20 from 10:00-4:00, and Saturday, March 21, from 10:00 to 12:00. Art work from over 650 students, in pre-k to grade 5, is on exhibit at the Manchester Community Center. Student work includes paintings, prints, drawings, 3D pieces, weaving, and collage. I attended last night and was thrilled to see so many in attendance and such beautiful art work. If you did not go, you really should stop by today or tomorrow!! Enjoy some artwork from students in K-5 at EES!!!

Third grader
Will Goldman received an Honorable Mention and will be participating in
the awards ceremony at the State House on April 1st. Congratulations Will!
Museum of Science visit for K-2 students
The E.E.S. PTO sponsors a variety of enrichment
opportunities for our students throughout the school year. We are so
fortunate to have such a supportive group who focus on enhancing grade
level curriculum in such engaging ways!
Today the Museum of Science presented on flight to the K-2 students at
EES. This presentation explored the nature of air. While
exploring the theme of flight, students learned the characteristics of air.
They learned that air is made up of multiple gases with different properties. Theses young students were engaged in discussion about air, hot air, carbon
dioxide, and helium. The presenter demonstrated how air makes an airplane fly by using a leaf
blower and a model wing. (See picture below).
Students witnessed air pressure in action as a one student zipped across
the floor on a hovercraft. They also
observed how changing the shape of a giant ball determines whether it flops
along or flies across a room. This was such an engaging presentation that
you could hear laughter and ooohs and ahhs coming from the cafeteria! Enjoy the photos below, and thank you to our
PTO!!!

School Meeting!
Today's school meeting was hosted by Linda Collins, Donna Smith, and our amazing third grade teachers, with the core value CARING as the theme. The notion of caring for yourself through good nutrition and movement was supported through a discussion and a fun breathing activity. Students shared the variety of ways that they have movement breaks in their classroom. Zumba and juggling were two activities that were mentioned. Mr. Carpenter led the students in singing the Exercise Tango, which judging by the volume is one that the students really enjoy!!! This focus on wellness is one that staff take seriously as they find ways to weave this throughout the day at EES.
