The thing that impresses me the most about EES and the town
of Essex is the true sense of community.
The notion that, “It takes a village to raise a child!” is alive and
well in Essex. We see this in the
collaboration between the staff and parents, and the high level of engagement
of families, as they are involved in their children’s schooling.
I was so impressed this week as I learned that the Essex
Fire Department donated a large sum of Market Basket gift cards to the program
that Nurse Smith runs to support families during the holidays. They sent over a GENEROUS donation in honor
of a fallen fire fighter to support families at Essex Elementary School. This is indicative of the type of community
support that I see on a routine basis.
