Students Teaching Students!

These girls developed a science lesson on minerals and taught it to their peers.  Grace, Evelyn, and Laila told me, first they quieted the group, then got their attention.  When they were paying attention, they explained that students were going to do a scavenger hunt.  The teachers carefully shared the directions and then told students to work together and to not get distracted.  Grace instructed them that when they finished they should complete the activity on the last page.  She, and fellow teachers, circulated while students worked.  The teachers said the students did a great job and this was a really fun activity.

Wes, Colby, Luca, Thias, Cole, and Fletcher taught fellow students about minerals.  They shared that students were given a packet of rocks, a book about minerals, and a packet and guide that the "teachers created".  The students were asked to use their resources and sort the rocks into the correct slots in the least amount of time.  The team of students who finished first would win a prize!!!

Fletcher and Cole shared the Study Sheet they created on the Lady Bug projector.  Incredible that they even incorporated the use of technology into their lesson!

Highly engaged students!
