The third graders in Mrs. Curcuru’s class set a goal to increase their reading fluency. Students picked a favorite children’s book and practiced reading the book with expression. Students marked spots in the text to stop and mark their thinking about the text. The third graders read their books to the kindergarteners. During the read aloud students stopped and discussed their thinking with their Kindergarten partner. The third graders also created puppets to work with the Kindergarteners to retell the story. Thank you to Mrs. Russo and Mrs. Jordan for the opportunity to share our book choices with the Kindergarten students. |
