Ms.Ayanna Najuma zoomed with third graders yesterday to talk about her experiences during the civil rights movement. At age 7,inspired by a trip from segrated Oklahoma to integrated NYC, she and her classmates led a sit in at the Katz drug store lunch counter. Today she leads the I Have a Voice to inspire children to act on issues that affect their community. Students shared issues important to them such as ending hunger and finding opportunities to work with diverse cultures toward common goals.
